This super-compact recorder is known for pleasant-sounding, low-noise microphone preamplifiers, and the ability to record to convenient, removable Compact Flash cards.

High-Resolution Portable Audio
The 702 is includes essential features required for high-resolution portable audio capture in a durably-constructed compact-chassis. Sharing a common menu architecture with the 7-Series family of recorders, the 702 is intuitive to operate. Powering by external 10-18 VDC or Sony-compatible camcorder battery allows flexibility for use in portable and studio applications alike.
Data Storage and Transfer
The compact device records and plays back audio to cost-effective, removable CompactFlash cards and/or external FireWire drives, making field recording simple and fast. It writes and reads uncompressed PCM audio at 16 or 24 bits with sampling rates between 32 kHz and 192 kHz. Compressed (MP3) and lossless compressed FLAC formats are also supported. The 702 implements a no-compromise audio path that includes Sound Devices' next generation microphone preamplifiers.

The 7-Series Recorders possess unmatched capability in a compact packages, each designed for unique user requirements. As with other 7-Series Recorders, the 702 can be used as a stand-alone device, fed by numerous analog mic, line, or digital AES-3 outputs, or preceded by a portable audio mixer such as Sound Devices' 552 or 302.
